    Eternal Rage Empty Eternal Rage

Post by Flames of Terror Wed Feb 20, 2013 1:20 am

Ok, so as I begin this I will say that this is nothing short of a pure rant.

    -----------------------

I'm sure many of you are/have been playing games on Live, and are facing the numerous trolls and fails that populate the NA Server. Now normally this wouldn't be a problem, and I could easily push aside my frustration, but I have reached a point where I don't see this as a fun filled MOBA. Instead I see it as a decaying relic of a once decent game. Ever since the release of Darius and Draven there was an increase in trouble, and then with Kah and Rengar there was even more. It just seemed like Riot was trying to push bruisers on us. Now with the release of Season 3 I have never seen so many tanks and bruisers playing games that it is more of a game of aggression and health.

I have to say that I'm tired of it. There is little skill required to play and win. I'm tired of the players who think they know everything, but most of all I'm tired of the game itself. It's not fun anymore, and while I enjoy crafting champions and ideas. I don't know how long I will continue to play League at a high level.

I suppose you could call this a letter of release.

I'll be frank. I feel like things are out of control. With, as you said, so many tanks and fighters, I feel like there is no room for passive plays. You either roflstomp the enemy team and blow up their turrets or you GG/surrender. Backdooring is only as useful as the rest of the team capable of surviving a 4v5 for a decent amount of time.

The other factor to this is the itemization. Defensive equipment isn't, to me, as usefull as Season 2 was and with the way how armor and magic resist reduction/penetration, you either stack warmogs/health or you go splat.

Hell. Before season 3, I saw nothing but Darius (with your occasional Teemo)going top. Nowadays, i'm seeing Garens left and right.

Just for the fun of it, here are the last 15 champs released.

    1. Thresh
    2. Vi
    3. Nami
    4. Zed
    5. Elise
    6. Kha'Zix
    7. Syndra
    8. Rengar
    9. Diana
    10. Zyra
    11. Jayce.
    12. Draven
    13. Darius
    14. Varus
    15. Hecarim

And if you look at them you'll see that 9 of them are bruisers. Sadly my Nami who I was looking forwards too was failure in creation. She works well in some situations, but outside of them she fails quite hard. I wish that I could invade Riot and fix this problem.

If you think you've hit rock bottom, try taking an assembly class... I wanna kill myself and the teacher both.

This reminds us the main rule of this universe: everything comes to an end. League of legends it's a good game, but without a history to tell (I'm not talking of champion's lore, that part is ok; I'm talking of the general lore), with the number of trolls/AFKers and the gameplay stuck in the same (there are no new maps or modes) the game isn't funny anymore. For that I no longer play LoL as I used to play (I log in just to test a champion or an item combination or to study something for my champcrafting)
I wouldn't like LoL falls in oblivion but to prevent that something must be done, and I think Riot didn't noticed that (or perhaps they are tired and just keep the game for the money or whatever reason)
Well, at least we have our champcrafting, a growing comunity and who knows if our champions someday make their way into LoL or another similar game?

It's almost as if we should just make a new game entirely...

Maybe, but let me ask: do you know any programer? because isn't easy to make a game of (almost) zero.
I know nothing about programing, the closest thing to programing I know is to craft custom maps for Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2 (actually I'm thinking I will make my own "summoners rift" in SC2 editor to test my champions)
But, the idea of making a new game is very interesting, we have champcrafters, mapcrafters, lorecrafters and we have programers (I dont know anyone, but I'm sure they are out there) so basically:
-can we make a new game? of course we can, but organisation and cooperation is required.

I have taken a couple programming classes and did very well in my game programming class (although we only used Flash CS5). The only thing stopping me from learning a new programming language or new software that you would use to create a game is motivation. Heck, I am unemployed and not in school. I'd have plenty of time to work on a game if I felt it would be worth it.

I am a VB10 programmer of some skill. I can also work in C# and XNA, but the irony of the statements just made here is that myself, Nyotakia, and SimpleClause have been working on a theorycraft for a new MOBA. I actually talked to Poet about it for a while, and it's just a concept not a plan to create it.

If you want I could drop some of the information on here or the link to website where it all exists.

    Alright here it is:

Mostly we have been working on the MMORPG, but many of the ideas for the MOBA has been thought out by us.

So it's two games in one, then? What is the interaction between them? Or are they being conceptualized as separate games? I am really interested in the MOBA's item setup and its potential.

The idea was to create a shifting MMORPG where the continents available would be determined by the players of the MOBA. In the MOBA you could align yourself behind one of twelve Archons that would stylize certain land-types. The highest percentage of wins to losses would change both the landscapes in the MOBA (Imagine Summoner's Rift that would cycle between Winter, Summer, and Fall based on the victories), and the available quest zones in the MMO. This would happen about once every two weeks or so. Players that still had quests in previous zones would be able to complete them in a seperate instance zone for an additional week.

The items for the MOBA would be divided into categories; Weapons, Armor, Artifacts, Neck, Fingers, etc. Basicly what you would see in a normal MMORPG. This would limit the number of weapons a Hero could wield at a time (Not a Black Cleaver, Two Bloodthirsters, etc). This would make the fun of item building varied, and would provide players with many different possible builds. The items would also be set up in 5 tiers instead of 4 that Riot uses. This would increase the number of items needed to be made, but would again increase the number of possible builds.

The idea is that there would only be Attack Damage on items that would grant flat damage. Ability damage would be mostly flat with a % scaling based on a specific stat for each Hero. Many Heroes would share a specific stat, but they would be unique (If you have played DotA or HoN it's similar to their's).

I'll make a seperate thread about this if you want to ask more questions.

Might as well. Depending on how serious you guys may or may not be, I might take the time to learn the specifics of the MOBA.
